Did You Know SHI 2011-12 Scholarship Applications Are Now Available Online?

Deadline to apply March 1, 2011

For the first time, students will be able to complete and submit scholarship applications and required documents entirely online. A new system founded by Sealaska Heritage Institute eliminates the burden of paperwork for students and staff, said SHI President Rosita Worl, noting the new system is much more convenient. Association of American Indian Physicians is now accepting student applications

American Indian and Alaska Native high school students, ages 16 to 18, who have an interest in the health field or biomedical research are encouraged to apply for this great event to be held on the George Washington University campus in Washington DC from June 18 through June 26. Selected high school students will receive a scholarship that will cover airfare, lodging, and most meals during the program. NNAYI's curriculum is strategically designed to prepare high school students for admission to college and professional schools, as well as for careers in health and biomedical research. Attend the Alaska Native Libraries, Archives and Museums Summit 2011

Scholarships available; applications due by February 28
This summit is intended for professional and paraprofessional staff members working in Alaska libraries, museums and cultural centers that serve a significant population of Alaska Natives or who work with Alaska Native cultural materials.

The summit will offer training at multiple levels and serve as a launching point for a strategic plan to make training in the field more accessible for cultural heritage agencies throughout Alaska.

Want to Earn a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) Degree? Apply for a Circle of Learning grant.

Scholarships available for American Indians and Alaska Natives enrolled in San Jose State University’s School of Library and Information Science program.

The Circle of Learning grant program is designed to recruit and support American Indians and Alaska Natives who are interested in earning a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree. The program is a partnership between the San Jose School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) and the American Indian Library Association (AILA). It is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
